- Summary
- English immigrant Don Rose came through Ellis Island in 1908 at the age of 18. Initially a small-town schoolteacher, he eventually became a popular newspaper columnist for Philadelphia newspapers; his daily column "Stuff and nonsense" took a lighthearted look at an eclectic range of topics. In 1941 he published this memoir of his and his family's life in a ramshackle farmhouse in Bryn Athyn, PA. His grandson Neil Genzlinger, also a journalist, edited this re-issue
